How to find the IMEI on a Apple phone
- Dial
*#06#— the IMEI appears immediately, and this works even if the device is locked. - Open Settings → General → About and scroll to *IMEI*.
- On models with a physical SIM tray, the IMEI is etched on the tray itself in very small type.
- Sign in at appleid.apple.com — devices linked to the Apple Account list their IMEI.
iPhones with eSIM only report an IMEI2 as well. Both belong to the same handset and share a TAC.
What an IMEI check can and cannot tell you about a Apple
The free check tells you
- • The manufacturer and model the IMEI belongs to.
- • Whether the 15 digits pass their checksum.
- • The TAC, serial and check-digit breakdown.
It cannot tell you
- • Whether the device is lost, stolen or blacklisted.
- • Whether it is carrier-locked or still under warranty.
- • Whether it is signed out of its previous owner's account.
